Share the life of Archbishop Carl Bean, the singer of the original 1977 gay anthem, covering his journey from abuse survivor to Motown artist to AIDS activist and founder of the Minority AIDS Project.
Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Daniel Junge & Oscar-nominated Sam Pollard, the film includes interviews with Lady Gaga, Billy Porter, Questlove and Diane Warwick. Creative animation highlights Bean's impact on Black and LGBTQ+ history, interweaving themes of faith, music, and activism against racism and homophobia.
