An unappreciated icon, Darlene Love’s story is full of triumph and heartbreak, but also resilience. Now in her 80s and still utterly magnetic on camera and on stage, Love recounts her journey, starting with her early days singing in a church choir in Los Angeles. Then came the many years she spent providing lead and background vocals, often uncredited, for some of the biggest hits of the 1960s while under contract to Phil Spector, the superstar producer who became her nemesis. The treasure trove of famous musical friends she accumulated along the way express their admiration and affection for her in this film filled with treasured musical numbers and thrilling archival clips. Love is a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee known for “He’s a Rebel” and collaborations with Cher, Bruce Springsteen, Dionne Warwick, Sam Cooke, and other greats. The film recently won the coveted People’s Choice Award at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival.

Barry Avrich is a Canadian filmmaker, philanthropist, and entrepreneur who has directed and produced around 70 films featuring prominent Hollywood moguls, legendary music icons, and even the last living Nuremberg prosecutor.
