Julie Anderson

Julie Anderson is an award winning non-fiction producer, director, writer and development executive. She has created programming for ESPN, HBO Sports, HBO Documentary Films, PBS, CNN, CBS Sports, ABC Sports and BET, among many
others.

Julie is the producer of Academy Award nominated documentary God Is The Bigger Elvis, which she produced for HBO Documentary Films. She developed and was senior producer for Emmy award winning magazine shows OUTSIDE THE LINES and E:60, both for ESPN.

Julie was the director of documentary development for HBO Documentary Films where she worked on the HBO series America Undercover and the Academy Award winning documentary Big Mama.

As Executive Producer of Program Development, she created the online ireport film festival for CNN.

Along with Dean Bell, Julie created the award winning teen educational series Sportsfigures for ESPN. Sportsfigures was the winner of a regional Emmy, several Clarion Awards for Best Children’s Programming Ages 14 and Up, and numerous
Parents Choice Awards.

Most recently, as the Executive Producer of Documentary Development at PBS, she executive produced the Emmy, Peabody and Dupont Journalism award winning series The African Americans, Many Rivers to Cross with Henry Louis Gates, as well as Gates’ series Finding Your Roots.

Karen Arikian

Karen Arikian

Karen founded her independent consulting company in 2012, with offices in New York and Germany, to create and execute international media events. Her clients include the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, European Film Promotion, Toronto International Film Festival, The European Film Market and Start Up Germany, among others. She is the US Delegate/East Coast for the Berlin International Film Festival and a member of the festival’s Competition selection committee. She teaches at the Hamburg Media School and has held workshops for international students at NYU Berlin.

Prior to starting her own company, Karen was the Executive Director of the Hamptons International Film Festival, Co-Director of the European Film Market in Berlin, Producer for Time Film (Berlin and New York), Associate Producer for Bruce Weber’s Little Bear Films and Executive Director of the Independent Feature Project. Karen studied documentary film at the Academy of Film and Television in Munich, Germany, and is an active volunteer and contributor to the Chromosome 18 Research Foundation. She serves as Creative Advisor to Hamptons Doc Fest.

Chris has directed, shot, and edited documentaries for over forty years. She received the prestigious DGA award for Startup.com,chronicling the first Internet boom. Along with

D A Pennebaker, she directed the 1992 Clinton campaign film,The War Room, nominated for an Academy Award®. Other films include ElaineStritch at Liberty(Emmy), The Energy War series, Town Bloody Hall, Delorean, Moon Over Broadway,Depeche Mode 101, Down From the Mountain, Only the Strong Survive, Al Franken: God Spoke,Kings of Pastry and recently HBO’s Emmy nominated Unlocking the Cage. Hegedus’ awards include the International Documentary Association, Yale University, and the Golden Eagle CINE.

Lana Jokel

Filmmaker Lana Jokel was born in Shanghai, China. She grew up in Brazil, educated in France and the United States. She studied languages and also attended the Boston museum of fine arts school.

Before making her own films, Lana began her career with the American documentary pioneers Richard Leacock and D.A. Pennebaker. She subsequently edited Norman Mailer’s films, Behind the Law and Maidstone, as well as two feature-length films by Andy Warhol, Heat and L’amour.

Lana Jokel is known for her documentaries on famous artists, such as Lee Krasner, Claes Oldenburg, Andy Warhol, and Larry Rivers and Chinese contemporary art.

Her newest film, A Moment in Time: Hamptons’ Artists, premiered as the opening night film at the 2016 Hamptons Doc Fest. Lana conceived of the film in 1990’s as a digital video exploration of the acclaimed artists of the Hamptons in their homes and studios. In a series of impromptu interviews, she talked to many visual visionaries about their work and creative process. Edited together in a remarkable montage are the participating artists: John Alexander, April Gornik, Sven Lukin, Nathan Joseph, Li-lan, Eric Fischl, Elizabeth Strong Cuevas, Donald Sultan, Audrey Flack, Howard Kanovitz, John Chamberlain and Robert Dash.

Jokel’s films have been screened in film festivals internationally and across the US. In 2013 she was selected by her peers to receive the prestigious filmmaker’s choice award from the Hmptons Doc Fest. She currently serves on the advisory board of Hamptons Doc Fest.

Susan Lacy

In 2013, after nearly thirty years as Series Creator and Executive Producer of AMERICAN MASTERS, Susan Lacy began a new chapter in her documentary filmmaking career – forming her own company, Pentimento Productions, and focusing solely on directing and producing. Her first films at Pentimento are already underway (documentary portraits of Steven Spielberg, Jane Fonda & Ralph Lauren) - all part of her company’s exclusive multi-picture deal with HBO.

Susan’s previous films were all part of the AMERICAN MASTERS collection -- she directed and produced Inventing David Geffen, Judy Garland: By Myself, Joni Mitchell: A Woman of Heart and Mind, Leonard Bernstein: Reaching for the Note, Rod Serling: Submitted for Your Approval, and Lena Horne: In Her Own Voice. Additionally, she produced the Peabody award-winning films Paul Simon: Born at the Right Time, LENNONYC, and No Direction Home: Bob Dylan.

During her tenure, she created a singular library of American cultural history -- producing for national broadcast over 215 documentary films about our country’s artistic and cultural giants. Under her watch, the series garnered an unprecedented number of awards - 71 Emmy nominations and 28 wins, including a remarkable 10 for Outstanding Non-Fiction Series, in addition to 12 Peabodys, 3 Grammys, and an Oscar.

Don Lenzer

Don Lenzer

Documentary director and cinematographer whose camera or director of photography credits can be found on five Academy Award winning feature documentaries including Woodstock (1971), He Makes Me Feel Like Dancing (1983), Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision (1995), and Into The Arms Of Strangers (2000). His work has been featured on numerous public television programs over the years, most notably on Georgia O’Keeffe: A Portrait (1975), Vladimir Horowitz: The Last Romantic (1987), James Baldwin: The Price of The Ticket (1989), Dancing for Mr. B: Six American Ballerinas (1989), Suzanne Farrrell: Elusive Muse, and the PBS Series, Craft In America (2007). Among the documentaries he shot that had both television and theatrical exposure were Anita: Speaking Truth to Power (2013), Smash His Camera (2009), The Audition (2009), and Wagner’s Dream (2012). He co-directed and shot the Emmy Award winning Great Performances documentary, Itzhak Perlman: In The Fiddler’s House (1995).

With over 25 years’ experience in the global film and television distribution business, Susan Margolin has built a reputation as a pioneer of digital distribution and a dedicated supporter of independent filmmakers and of the filmmaking community. After spending her early career in international film sales and television she launched New Video Group in 1991 with partner Steve Savage. Over the span of two decades New Video became a leading home entertainment distributor and global digital aggregator, featuring award winning film, TV and online content with an international presence in over 45 territories. A launch partner with key platforms including iTunes, Xbox, Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, Sony PlayStation, Google and others, New Video distributed content via digital download, streaming, VOD, Blu-Ray and DVD and platform theatrical releases. During that time she partnered with over 500 content creators including A+E, History, Lifetime, Tribeca Films, Major League Baseball and Scholastic. In 2011, her company signed on as Sundance Institute’s exclusive digital content aggregation partner for Sundance Artist Services, providing a unique gateway to digital distribution that emphasized filmmaker involvement and rights management.

In 1999, while at New Video, Margolin launched Docurama Films, a subsidiary of the company. Through Docurama, Margolin has championed more than 400 award winning non-fiction films, from Academy Award nominees including Kirby Dick’s The Invisible War, Danfung Dennis’ Hell and Back Again and Joe Berlinger’s Paradise Lost trilogy to Josh Fox’s Gasland, Mike Lerner’s Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer and D.A. Pennebaker’s Don’t Look Back, to name a few.

In 2012, Margolin and Savage sold New Video to Cinedigm (NASDAQ: CIDM), the leading digital cinema company, forming Cinedigm Entertainment Group (CEG), a full-service end-to- end digital releasing studio specializing in acquiring and distributing independent films and specialty content both theatrically and through digital, mobile and home media platforms. While in the role of Co- President of CEG, Margolin released such critically acclaimed independent films as Destin Daniel Crettin’s Short Term 12, Penny Lane’s Our Nixon, Kelly Reichert’s Night Moves, and Godfrey Reggio’s The Visitors.

Margolin was most recently President of Docurama and Special Acquisitions at Cinedigm. She oversaw the recent launch of The Docurama Channel, a streaming VOD service, as well as the Docurama brand of award winning documentary films across all platforms including theatrical, home entertainment, and digital distribution.

Margolin currently serves on the board of directors of BAFTA NY, and Hamptons Doc Fest, and on the advisory boards of Chicken and Egg Pictures and New York Women in Film and Television. She was honored in 2012 by the Producers Guild of America as one of the “Digital 25: Leaders in Emerging Entertainment.” She received her B.A. in Semiotics from Brown University.

RJ Millard has worked in the entertainment industry for over twenty years. He currently runs his own marketing, publicity and sales agency, Obscured Pictures. Clients include Bleecker Street, Amazon Studios, Focus Features, IMAX, Roadside Attractions, A24, IFC Films, Broad Green Pictures and more. He has overseen campaigns for top filmmakers from Terrence Malick (VOYAGE OF TIME) to Jim Jarmusch (GIMME DANGER) and ran awards campaigns for multiple Academy Award nominated films.

He previously held top positions at Focus Features, Samuel Goldwyn Films/Roadside Attactions and the Sundance Film Festival.

His film, The Charcoal People won the Best Documentary Award at the Sundance and Latino International Film Festivals. He produced The Beauty Academy of Kabul (2006). Owner of Magic Lantern Media, Inc., Noble is an experienced producer and director of films and video for theatres, television, not-for-profits, and other major businesses, with works earning nominations and accolades from the Director’s Guild of America, the Cannes Film Festival, and the Telluride Film Festival, among many other prestigious institutions.

Ron Simon

Curator, Television and Radio at The Paley Center for Media since the early 1980s. He is also an adjunct associate professor at Columbia University, New York University, and Hunter College, where he teaches courses on the history of media. Simon has written for many publications, including The Encyclopedia of Television and Thinking Outside of the Box, as well as serving as host and creative consultant of the CD-ROM Total Television. A member of the editorial board of Television Quarterly, and a judge on the George Foster Peabody committee, Simon has lectured at museums and educational institutions throughout the world. Among the numerous exhibitions he has curated are The Television of Dennis Potter; Witness to History; Jack Benny: The Television and Radio Work; and Worlds Without End: The Art and History of the Soap Opera. He also discovered such lost programs as the live Honeymooners and the only video performance of the Rat Pack.

A founder of Florentine Films, Roger has been making award-winning documentaries for decades. He’s a producer, director, cinematographer, still photographer, and author. His films have won a James Beard Award, an Emmy, a Peabody, and two Academy Award nominations. His film In Search for Israeli Cuisine, a portrait of the Israeli people told through food was released in January, 2016 and in less than six months was booked in 60 festivals around the world. Of Roger's other films, Charlie Rose called his PBS American Masters special, Alexander Calder, “an extraordinary American masterpiece. Jason Weinberg grew up in New York City, attended Wesleyan University and the London School of Economics. Upon graduating with a double major in psychology and economics, he moved back to New York and began his career in public relations. In 1998, Jason switched from publicity to management, co-founding Untitled Entertainment. Today, Untitled represents a wide variety of actors, writers, directors, and musicians. Clients include Academy Award winners Juliette Binoche, Penelope Cruz, Jane Fonda, Goldie Hawn, Jessica Lange, Melissa Leo, Jared Leto, Eddie Redmayne and Marisa Tomei.

Untitled served as Executive Producer of the feature films MARGIN CALL and LOVELACE. Jason's television credits include: the award winning Showtime drama “Ray Donovan,” the Golden Globe winning HBO series "Enlightened," the critically acclaimed "The Conversation," for Lifetime, and Alan Cumming’s “Remember That Time,” for CBS. Jason is also Executive Producer of House Of Z, a feature documentary in post-production on the life and career of designer Zac Posen.
